About Parker Academy
Parker Academy is a small, therapeutic special education school located in Concord, New Hampshire, serving middle and high school students. We support students with learning and emotional challenges in a supportive, trauma-informed environment where strong relationships are at the heart of learning. With a focus on creativity, hands-on teaching, and individualized support, we help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Working at Parker means joining a close, dynamic team of highly skilled educators who enjoy coming to work each day. We foster a positive, supportive learning environment where staff build each other up, celebrate successes, and collaborate to make a difference. Our team enjoys quarterly outings and a culture of connection, reflection, and growth.

Why Work at Parker Academy
Working at Parker Academy means being part of a school that truly does things differently — and does them together.
We’re a little quirky — and we like it that way. Our students don’t fit a one-size-fits-all model, and neither do we. We celebrate individuality, creativity, and flexibility. Movement, humor, and hands-on, experiential learning are central to how learning and regulation happen at Parker.
A positive, team-centered culture matters here. We focus on what’s going well, support one another through challenges, and collaborate to problem-solve. There’s no “that’s not my job” mentality — we pitch in and show up for each other.
Administrative support at Parker is real. Good ideas are encouraged and supported. Evan proposed building a greenhouse as part of the horticulture class; staff and students built it together, and it’s now a core part of our gardening program. Gavin wanted to teach students how to ice skate, and now students go to Everett Arena weekly. Jonathan and Brynnalee collaborated on a language, cultural, and culinary course — and Spanish and the Kitchen was born. We trust our educators, value initiative, and believe some of the best learning happens together.
We are skilled professionals who also know how to have fun. Parker educators come to us with at least one certification and a willingness to keep growing. We value professional development, expanding skill sets, and learning together as a team.
Community is at the heart of Parker. Strong relationships with students and families create the positive vibe you feel here. Events like family BBQs, Night of the Arts, Empty Bowls, and Beach Days strengthen those connections and reinforce that Parker is more than just a school.
Those who play together, stay together. Quarterly staff outings and shared experiences help us stay connected and grounded.
Parker loves the Red Sox. We frequently raffle and give away Red Sox tickets to staff — because building culture sometimes means cheering together at Fenway.
You’ll be known, supported, and valued. In a small school, your ideas, strengths, and voice truly matter

Parker Academy is seeking a part-time Reading Specialist to join our team. The Reading Specialist will work with students individually and/or in small groups to support literacy development within a therapeutic, relationship-based school setting.
While the required credentials are essential, they are not enough on their own. We are looking for patient, fun, creative, and thoughtful educators who understand that meaningful learning often happens through movement, hands-on experiences, and genuine connection. Our students need instruction that is engaging, flexible, and responsive—not worksheet-driven or one-size-fits-all. If your approach to reading involves getting students out of their seats, integrating interests, building confidence through relationships, and thinking outside the box, we want to hear from you.
This is not a traditional reading specialist role. If you’re considering applying, please don’t just send a resume. Tell us what makes you and your approach unique. What does reading instruction look like in your classroom? How do you engage students who have struggled with, avoided, or even resisted reading in the past?
Qualifications Required:
- Current NH teaching certification or certification as a Reading Specialist
- Wilson and/or Orton-Gillingham certification
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with students with autism and/or learning and emotional challenges
- A positive and collaborative approach to teaching

While the required credentials are essential, they are not enough on their own. Position Summary
Parker Academy is seeking a full-time Middle School ELA Teacher to join our team. This is a teaching position responsible for delivering English Language Arts instruction to small groups of middle school students in a therapeutic school setting. In addition to ELA, this role will include teaching other core subjects, such as social studies, within a small-group, integrated classroom model.
While content knowledge is important, it is not enough on its own. We are looking for educators who know how to make reading and writing engaging, accessible, and meaningful for students who may have struggled in traditional settings. Our students benefit from creative approaches to literacy, including role-playing, discussion, creative arts, movement, experiential projects, and relationship-based learning. Worksheets and tests are often a fast way to increase anxiety — and not always the best way to assess what students know and can do.
This is not a traditional ELA classroom. If your teaching style involves flexibility, imagination, humor, and finding ways to bring texts to life, we want to hear from you. In your application, tell us what makes your approach to teaching reading and writing unique. How do you engage reluctant readers, anxious writers, or students who feel disconnected from school?
Qualifications Required:
- Current New Hampshire teaching certification
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with students with autism and/or learning and emotional challenges
- Ability to teach ELA and additional core subjects (e.g., social studies) to small groups
- Strong relationship-building and classroom management skills
We value educators who are adaptable, energetic, and committed to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally through meaningful relationships and engaging instruction.

This is a part-time role (approximately 6–12 hours per week) for an educator who enjoys creative, relationship-based teaching and knows how to make structured literacy engaging and accessible.
While Orton-Gillingham provides the framework, we value instructors who bring flexibility, warmth, and creativity to their sessions — meeting students where they are and building confidence alongside skills.
Qualifications:
- Current Orton-Gillingham certification
- Minimum of three years’ experience delivering Orton-Gillingham instruction
To Apply:
Please send a resume, a brief cover note, and a copy of your most recent Orton-Gillingham certification to Danielle Krautmann at dkrautmann@parkeracademy.com. Applications will be considered only when all required materials are received.
