Admissions
We work closely with a large number of school districts across the state in providing a private placement alternative for their students. Parents who are interested in financial support from their local school district should feel free to contact us so that we can explain the process. Or, they may contact their local school district directly.
Getting permission to visit Parker Academy and apply in no way obligates the home school district to take responsibility for the school tuition fees.
The Bureau of Special Education has issued FY’15 Memo #6. Click the link below to view the New Hampshire Special Education Procedural Safeguards Handbook.

Admissions Process at Parker Academy
Parker Academy is a year-round program that welcomes students from various referral sources. We are licensed by the New Hampshire Department of Education to accept school referral placements for students identified with primary disabilities, including Autism, Emotional Disturbance (ED), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), and Other Health Impairments (OHI).
Steps in the Administration Process
1. Out of District Referral
The admissions process begins with an Out of District Referral made by your local school district and special education team.
2. Referral Package
The Out of District Referral must include the following documents:
- Current IEP
- Evaluations (e.g., Neuropsychological, Speech, Occupational, and school assessments)
- Transcript/Report Cards
- Attendance Reports
- Disciplinary Reports
3. Review and Interview
Once the referral package is reviewed by our administrative team, an interview and tour can be arranged for the family and sending school district. Should the administrative team and student/family feel a placement at Parker is the right fit, they come for a half-day visit.
4. Half-Day Visit
The next step is a half-day visit for the student. The student will attend 3 classes with another student mentor. This visit helps them build relationships and envision themselves as a part of Parker Academy.
5. Final Admissions Decision
After the half-day visit, a final admissions decision will be made. A placement meeting will be scheduled with the sending school district, Parker Academy, and the onboarding family.
6. Private Pay Option
If a family is interested in Parker Academy as a private pay option, they will be required to complete a financial aid application prior to the interview/tour.
I would (and have) recommend Parker Academy to any parent who has a special needs child, who cannot succeed in the public school system. Parker's approach with my child has made a huge difference, and in the past year we have seen so much personal growth.
